Unions Outraged Over Hospital Cleaners Defacto Wage Freeze

The union representing cleaners at Canberra Hospital has slammed Health Minister Meegan Fitzharris over her response to a protest yesterday seeking higher wages.

The workers are calling on the ACT Government to vary the contract held by ISS, which has only been able to offer a 64-cents-an-hour pay rise in the past five years.

Ms Fitzharris has dismissed the action, claiming the cleaners had received two wage rises.

United Voice organiser Erryn Cresshull says the response is both insulting and wrong.
