Jones Wants Open Process To Appoint Jail Inspector

The Canberra Liberals are calling for the new ACT Corrections Inspector to be appointed by a transparent selection process.

The new role was created following the Moss review into failings at the Alexander Maconochie Centre.

The current bills allows any Minister to handpick a candidate.

Shadow Corrections Minister Guilia Jones is welcoming the appointment, but says it should be selected with a two-thirds majority of Assembly members.
