Grandmother Allegedly Left Toddler In Hot Car

A 51 year old woman will face court this afternoon after allegedly leaving her grandchild in a car on hot day.ACT policing say a woman parked her car in the shopping complex on Botany Street at around 2.10pm yesterday, where she allegedly left her 15 month old granddaughter asleep in the car.

It was around 28 degrees at the time, and it wasn't long before concerned witnesses say they saw the toddler sweating profusely.

Police say several people tried to break the driver's side window, before a man used a tyre iron to successfully break into the car.

ACT policing's Simon Kinsmore says leaving a child alone in these temperatures is extremely dangerous.

ACT police are keen to speak to the mystery man who came to the rescue of the 15 month old.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is being urged to call Crimestoppers.
