ACT Government in no rush to legalise euthanasia
The Barr Government has denied claims it would rush to legalise euthanasia if the ACT is allowed to make its own laws. Next month the Senate will debate whether to restore the ACT and Northern Territory's rights to legislate on on voluntary assisted dying, after the Commonwealth revoked them more than 20 years ago.

NRL want a harsher penalty for Wighton
The NRL wants the Raiders to enforce a harsher ban on Jack Wighton after he pled guilty to unprovoked attacks on five men in Civic. The Raiders had proposed a six week ban for the fullback, but NRL Chief Executive Todd Greenberg says having viewed the footage, he believes it warrants a stronger action than that.

House fire extinguished in Weetangera

House fire extinguished in Weetangera
Fire and ambulance crews have been called to a house fire in Weetangera.Intensive Care Paramedics have treated two patients for smoke inhalation at the scene of the fire on Bambridge Street; before transporting them to Calvary Hospital in a stable condition.
