Canberra man refused bail over assault of his mother

A Canberra man who allegedly choked his elderly mother and threatened to kill her has been refused bail. The 54 year old has fronted the ACT Magistrates Court, pleading not guilty to charges of common assault, reckless threat to kill and choking.

ACT firies may have been exposed to deadly chemicals

Report finds NGA has cash flow problems

An auditor's report has found the National Gallery of Australia has major cash flow problems. The gallery has reportedly used Government funding meant for acquiring and maintaining works to prop up its operating budget.

Hospital service staff to take industrial action

Hospital services staff in Canberra have voted to take industrial action for the first time in 17 years. Wardspersons and food services employees at Canberra Hospital say they're fed up with increasing workloads, high stress and low wages.
