43 hectares of vacant land released for sale in Canberra's north

The ACT Government is selling pretty much an entire new suburb to developers after releasing 43 hectares of vacant land off Lake Ginninderra in Canberra's north. It's the first time in three years an entire suburb has been offered to the private sector for development.

Home invasions in Calwell, Taskforce Nemesis investigating

Shots have been fired during a home invasion and arson attack in Canberra's south. Police were called to two homes in Calwell just before 11pm to find three cars had been set on fire.
 
One person has been taken to hospital with injuries.
 
As police believe this is a criminal gang related shooting, Taskforce Nemesis is investigating....

Dickson Library set to reopen

Dickson Library is set to partially reopen to the public next Friday. From July 6, Canberrans will be able to pick up requests, borrow and return books from a limited collection, use public computers and access newspapers and other resources during normal opening hours.

Jack Wighton stood down for Bronco's match

Raider's fullback Jack Wighton has pleaded guilty to assaulting five men and urinating in public. 
The 25 year old will miss tomorrow night's crucial clash with the Broncos in Brisbane after being stood down by the club.
 
It's not clear how long he'll be unavailable for selection....
