Local businesses need more support

The ACT Opposition has called on the government to support local businesses.

Liberal MLA James Milligan has moved the motion in the assembly today to compensate businesses affected by the Light Rail.

He says a lot of businesses in Gungahlin are doing it tough.

The Canberra Business Chamber has praised this year's budget saying it's a positive move towards making Canberra one of the most livable cities in the world. Andrew Barr has handed down the ACT's first balanced budget in eight years delivering a $36 million surplus.

Queer Eye stars in Yass today

They were in Canberra yesterday, but today the five stars of Netflix's Queer Eye have moved on to their catchphrase's namesake, Yass. Billboards celebrating the fact have popped up on the Barton Highway, with interviews for the reality show held at a pub in Yass a couple of months ago.

Another incident of a man approaching children in Canberra
